Pack your bags, we’re going to Coffs

BIG4 members and subscribers have been spoilt for choice this month with the introduction of some spectacular new parks around the country. Roy Fleming reports.

Are you ready for a whole new way to holiday?

The Great Dividing Range is at its closest to the coast near Coffs Harbour, making it one of the best regions for growing almost anything, especially bananas.

The continental shelf is at its closest to the Australian mainland at Coffs, and its variety of reef corals and fish species is considered as diverse and plentiful as anywhere else on the planet.

Coffs Harbour is a location where everything nature has provided collides in a spectacular way. That includes the weather. Almost halfway between Sydney and the Gold Coast, the Coffs region boasts some of Australia's most reliable weather - not as humid as the tropical north, not as cold as inland NSW.

"Coffs Harbour is a location where everything nature has provided collides in a spectacular way. That includes the weather."

The region is so well-endowed with nature some liken it to Jurassic World, with these exceptional differences: Coffs Harbour's plant and animal life are authentic, organic, earthy and the people have a calm country-town feel about them, which tends to happen when you live by the seaside.

It's a joy to bring these new parks into the network this month for our members and guests to enjoy. And you don't need a whopping budget or extended leave to make it happen. Coffs Harbour has its own airport with all the major airlines operating from there daily.

Now that we have your attention, let us introduce our new parks...

Glorious rainforest, abundant oceans, and perfect sunrises. Coffs, you're such a show off!

BIG4 BEACH PARK HOLIDAY PARK, COFFS HARBOUR

Nestled by the sea, BIG4 Park Beach Holiday Park is equipped with a jumping pillow, multiple playgrounds, games room, basketball court, massive camp kitchen and BBQ venues, along with beautiful campgrounds, drive-through ensuite sites and cabins. The park’s showpiece is its giant water features and pools, one of the best in the BIG4 network and a monster in size, scale and entertainment for all ages.

Nearby: Across the road is the famous Park Beach (with surf), 200m to the Bowls Club, cafes, restaurants, beachfront activities, and two excellent golf courses (hello, Bonville). But if you love your watersports, this is mecca.

Whale watching is one of many, many opportunities on this coastline.

Those waters yield some of the best fishing in the universe.

The park has an excellent variety of playgrounds and one of the best pools in the BIG4 family.

One of the park's numerous outdoor kitchens. Nice huh!

Why not choose Coffs for your next Great Australian Break!

BIG4 SAWTELL BEACH HOLIDAY PARK

You'll be pleasantly surprised by Coffs Harbour's size (yep, there's all the department stores you see in the big cities), but if it's enclaves you seek then you shall enjoy Sawtell.

In this stunner of a seaside village you can wash away the grind of your busy life back at home, yet still get your quality coffee fix every day.

BIG4 Sawtell Beach Holiday Park is about 15 minutes drive south of Coffs Harbour, and it's our pleasure to introduce you. This park boasts generous grounds with super grassy camp sites, large drive-through sites and cabins ranging from budget to majestic cliff-top cabins offering uninterrupted views of the ocean.

The park includes bike trails, camp kitchens, multiple BBQ sites, playground and direct access to the beaches this region is famous for. The small town centre is home to quality cafes, restaurants and the historic Sawtell Cinema.

Nearby: You might like to visit the clifftop rock pool where you can soak your skin and enjoy glorious ocean views, throw a soft plastic around the clear waters of Bonville Creek, play golf, or get all romantic and walk the empty beaches. Or do nothing, which is a seriously good option.

Like we said, this park's grounds are as lush as golf course fairways.

Did we mention the clifftop cabins? Here's the view.

Space is a feature of BIG4 Sawtell Beach Holiday Park.

There's a range of cabins to suit all budgets and styles.

The beach at Sawtell ... go on, unleash that romantic beast within.

BIG4 HAPPY HALLIDAYS

Here's another star by the sea. Happy Hallidays is a beautiful beachside holiday park to recently join the BIG4 family.

You can expect total relaxation here, whether your choice of holiday includes whale watching, fishing, water sports or simply chilling in the park where the only interruption is the contented laughter of kids making friends and enjoying the park's wonderful facilities.

BIG4 Happy Hallidays is the ultimate family holiday destination, only two minutes from Black Head Beach. The park has a resort pool, paddle pool and indoor pool as well as playgrounds, and kids' activities keep you as busy as you want to be!

And there's accommodation to suit every budget range from self-contained cabins to 67 sites, some with ensuites.

Nearby: Whale watching or swimming at Black Head, considered the safest swimming beach in the region. Head to the Black Head Bazaar local market, which is open the first Sunday of every month (September to May), or to local galleries and entertainment centres. If you are feeling less energetic you can walk to the Hallidays Point Tavern, which is super close to the park.

Black Head has one of the best whale-watching platforms on the NSW coastline.

There's tranquil beaches to unwind and immerse yourself in nature.

Ocean baths are safe for kids and popular with families.

Did we mention kiddie activities? This is the Happy Train.

Accommodation is of the quality and standard you've come to expect from BIG4.

Isn't it time you stayed in Australia's favourite holiday parks? Book your next Great Australian Break at any of these new parks or across our network by visiting BIG4.com.au.

This is excellent having new BIG4 parks to stay at.
The Big4 parks we used in Tasmania recently were of the same excellent standard as we have become accustomed with on the mainland.
