The Robe Obelisk is a must-see landmark in Robe, perched on Cape Dombey with views over Guichen Bay. Built in 1855, it served as a navigational marker to guide ships safely into the bay and stored lifesaving rocket equipment for emergencies. Initially painted white, it was given its striking red and white stripes in 1862 for better visibility against the sand dunes. Today, the Obelisk is a key symbol of Robe’s maritime history and one of the town’s most photographed sites.
