The State Poker Showdown® is a six-day regional championship that attracts competitors and visitors from South Australia and Victoria to Mount Gambier. Established in 2023, the event has experienced consistent year-on-year growth and has become one of regional Australia's largest recurring poker championships. The 2026 event attracted 178 unique participants across the series, including approximately 114 interstate and regional visitors who supported local accommodation providers, cafés, restaurants, hotels and retailers throughout their stay. Organised by Gambier Poker in partnership with Yole Poker, the championship promotes sportsmanship, community participation and cross-border collaboration while showcasing Mount Gambier as a regional events destination
