Cemetery Tours Toowoomba offers a fun, unique, and professional way to explore the rich history of the Darling Downs region. Run by researcher, author, and journalist Lisa Herbert, this small, local business provides a fascinating deep dive into the lives of the pioneers buried at the heritage-listed Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery.
What makes these tours stand out is the commitment to historical accuracy. Lisa's expertise ensures that the tours are more than just a walk through a graveyard; they are a journey through captivating stories of hardship and triumph, ingenuity and tragedy, ingenuity and innovation, mischief and murder. You'll learn about the region's fascinating and sometimes confronting past while exploring cemetery symbolism, craftsmanship, and burial practices from a bygone era.
Cemetery Tours Toowoomba is dedicated to making history accessible and fun for everyone. Tour options include:
A two-hour walking tour for those who want a comprehensive experience.
A 90-minute "Stroll and Roll" tour, specifically designed for individuals with mobility challenges. This tour accommodates wheelchairs, walkers, and those who prefer a slower pace, ensuring that no one is left out.
In addition to scheduled tours, private tour enquiries are welcome, catering to both large and small groups, often on short notice.
For anyone with a curious mind or a love for history, these "grave encounters" ensure the region's stories are never dead and buried.
