Kayaking the Lower Clyde River - Batemans Bay and Nelligen

The Lower Clyde River is a 15-kilometre, one-way kayaking route between Batemans Bay and Nelligen on the New South Wales south coast. The river is known for its oysters and runs alongside Clyde River National Park.
Launch point: Shallow water on the north or south side of Batemans Bay Bridge.
Route: Paddle 15 km upstream to Nelligen, passing the Clyde River National Park's Big Island and Little Island, which both have landing spots on their southern shores. Land at the small beach downstream of the western boat ramp at Nelligen.
Side trip: The Buckenbowra River, if time allows.
Facilities: Picnic tables and toilets are available at the southern boat ramp in Batemans Bay and at Nelligen.
Safety: Check tide times before setting out and watch for strong tidal flows. Avoid the river bar downstream of Batemans Bay Bridge.
