The exterior of the building is an example of the Inter-War Art Deco style of architecture, popular during its time of construction in 1938.

While no longer operating as the town's administrative centre, the hall offers an insight into the history and development of the local government of the district. The space is available to book for functions and performances through the City of Swan.

The historic town of Guildford is located just 20 minutes by train or drive east of Perth.

Guildford is one of three towns in Perth classified by the National Trust. In 2019, the entire town was added to the State Register of Heritage Places. Guildford offers historical buildings, charming streetscapes and historic precincts to explore. Antique and home decor shops and plenty of options to eat and drink, including beautifully restored heritage pubs.
