BIG4 snags Australia’s attention with the latest ‘BIG thing’

The country’s next ‘big thing’ was officially unveiled today at BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, as BIG4 Holiday Parks took the tarp off ‘The BIG Snag’. It’s the latest supersized item in a long laundry list of oversized items strewn all over Australia, from Pineapples to Prawns. This massive, mouth-watering addition coincides with the launch of The BIG Aussie Review, which sees Grace and Matt, two teachers from Brisbane, spend 365 days on the road.

As the couple embark on their year-long lap of the country in a brand-new Ford Ranger and Crusader caravan they get to keep (yes, really… must be nice), they’re being sent off in style by a BIG Snag. How big, you might ask? The inflatable snag tips the scales at a whopping 400kg. That’s a lot of sausage!

How did this all come about? When looking for the winner of The BIG Aussie Review, BIG4 asked entrants what they thought the most quintessentially Aussie thing was, and you guessed it: the answer that came up the most was none other than the humble snag.

The sausage in bread is about as Australian as it gets. While foreigners think ‘throwing a shrimp on the barbie!’ is basically our national pastime, a juicy, well-cooked snag in bread is perhaps the most Aussie thing to be found anywhere in this great land.

From footy club fundraisers and a quick Bunnings snag to an election day democracy sausage, it’s a first-class Aussie delicacy that even satiates those with the most sophisticated of palates. Whether you like it served with onions, lathered in tomato, mustard or barbecue sauce, or all of the above, there’s something enticing about the simplicity of a snag in a piece of white bread.

Just why are we so obsessed with having giant versions of things like Merino Sheep, Golden Guitars and Bananas for tourist attractions anyway? Because it’s the Aussie way, and we have to prove that we’re the biggest and the best, that’s why!
