Located close to the Gympie town centre, Deep Creek is one of the region's designated fossicking areas, offering visitors the chance to experience the thrill of discovering gold just as prospectors did in the 1800s. With a fossicking licence and simple equipment, you can search the creek's sandy banks and shallow waters for traces of alluvial gold. Fossicking licences are available online or at the Lake Alford Visitor Information Centre, where equipment hire (including picks, shovels, and pans) is also offered. The area is surrounded by natural bushland, making it a peaceful spot to combine history, adventure, and the outdoors.

Visit Deep Creek to uncover a piece of Gympie's golden past and enjoy a hands-on fossicking adventure.
