Landmarks and Buildings

Located about 62 kilometres northwest of Sydney's central business district, Richmond is one of the five towns established in the Hawkesbury region by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1810. The town is easily accessible by car or train, and its compact layout makes it ideal to explore on foot.

Richmond's rich history comes to life on a self-guided heritage walk, where you can discover its historic buildings, streets, and market square—first surveyed by James Meehan in 1811.

Pick up a free Heritage Highlights booklet from the Hawkesbury Regional Museum on Baker Street, Windsor, or the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre on Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond. You can also call to have a copy of the Heritage Walks mailed to you.
