Not everyone heads north for their ideal winter escapes, as Sam Huxter explains.
Answer: For our winter holidays we have stayed at Bowen, Lake Macquarie, Eden, Allansford, Lakes Entrance and Narooma.
Answer: Lake Macquarie was our first stay in our own camper; we chose here because we were going to a VW show nearby.
Eden was the first time we invited our family along to show them how fun BIG4 parks are and we chose Eden because it was halfway between Sydney and Melbourne.
We booked an ensuite site for ourselves and booked a tent site for my brother and family and a cabin for the grandparents. The three kids had an awesome time together and we had a fantastic Easter.
With the beach so close it was a good location. The kids also loved the spa.
Answer: We like to go for walks, exploring, bike rides, swimming in the heated pools, jumping pillow and relaxing at the campsite.
Answer: We would recommend all of the BIG4 parks we have stayed at.
Answer: Cave Beach at Lake Macquarie was amazing; lots of fun for younger ones to explore the caves.
Moruya Heads: When we stay here, a visit to the Saturday market is a must: so many great stalls and in a lovely setting. There are so many cafes to choose from on Vulcan St. The rocks on the beach are wonderful to have a look at too.
Narooma: There is nowhere quite like it. The waters are crystal clear and the fish and seals are fascinating to watch. We are looking forward to trying out the new water park coming soon (at BIG4 Narooma East's Holiday Park).
The RSL is very close to the park and a good place for the family to eat and entertain the kids.
Answer: We love what BIG4 parks have to offer. We know our son has so much freedom out on his bike or scooter or at the jumping pillow or pool: it’s perfect for him.
Meanwhile his dad and I enjoy the peace and quiet and time to ourselves for a little while.
Answer: We would love to stay at BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort in Airlie Beach. We previously stayed at BIG4 Bowen and spent a few days in Airlie and loved it there.
The resort looks absolutely amazing. There is just so much to see and do in Airlie and the Whitsundays that we have to go back.
Many thanks to Sam Huxter for sharing her family's favourite winter getaways.
