BIG4 member Kasey Zendler has a special destination she likes to take her family during the cooler winter months. You'll never guess where.
Answer: We love holidaying in northern New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory during winter so that we can enjoy Australia’s gorgeous warm, sunshine-filled winter days without it being too hot but still warm enough to jump in the water!
Our favourite destination for winter though would have to be Darwin because there is so much to see and do for the entire family and the weather is sensational!
Answer: We love BIG4 Howard Springs Holiday Park because it is perfectly located close to everything to base our day trips. It is easy to pop into Darwin, head down to Litchfield National Park, go on a boat trip to see the jumping crocodiles on the Adelaide River or even go to lunch at Digger’s Bistro to get a photo with the water buffalo from Crocodile Dundee.
The best part is coming back to the park at day's end for a swim in the pool. The people are incredibly friendly, salt-of-the-earth characters and go out of their way to make you feel welcome – it is like a home away from home!
Answer: We take holidays each year in the winter school holidays because it’s the perfect chance to go somewhere warm up north and swim every day! Darwin in particular is perfect during winter because it is the dry season, which makes every day the perfect temperature for whatever activity it is you have planned!
We love swimming in the watering holes or at the wave pool and learning about Aboriginal culture. There are boat trips, sunset cruises, markets, crocodile tours and just so much to see and do in the Top End that makes us keep coming back!
Answer: We would absolutely recommend BIG4 Howard Springs when staying in or around Darwin because the cabins are great, the camp sites are shady and we love that it has a water park to keep the kids entertained for hours, and beautiful pools for the adults to cool off in that hot tropical heat!
Everyone is super friendly and always up for a yarn to tell you about the local area and things that you can do while you are staying.
It is the perfect spot to experience everything Darwin and surrounds has to offer while still chilling out in an idyllic location at the end of the day.
Answer: There are so many amazing places to see in Darwin; we love the wave pool and feeding the fish. And one of our favourite things to do is to wander through the Mindil markets and eat our dinner on the beach as the sun sets: the kids can play on the beach and there are roaming performers through the markets to keep everyone entertained!
Plus, it is one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen - watching the sun dip over the ocean and the sky light up!
We also love hanging out at the Darwin Wharf precinct, which is the perfect spot for dinner or an ice-cream. On our last visit I was lucky enough (crazy enough?) to swim with a crocodile in the cage of death and let me tell you – this is not for the faint hearted!!
Litchfield National Park is an incredible day trip – make sure you see the giant termite mounds (they are so cool!!!!). And then there are all the amazing watering holes and gorgeous walks with stunning scenery and the waterfalls to swim out to and play under … it is truly the best day for the whole family.
The jumping crocodiles are also spectacular, it’s a really fun boat trip with the whole family and you get to witness huge crocodiles jump almost all the way out of the water to get a feed – WOW!
Darwin has so much to do that we can’t rave about it enough because there are so many things to do there that you cannot experience anywhere else in the world!
Answer: We love BIG4! We love that we can stay in any BIG4 anywhere around Australia and have the most amazing time because the parks are so well looked after, they have the best facilities and are run by amazing people who will go out of their way to ensure that you are having the best holiday!
And on top of all that we get to save 10% on every holiday!! Another great benefit is the exclusive member-only promotions that help us to get inspired for our upcoming holiday or help to plan our next adventure!
Answer: ULURU!!! Our whole family are beyond excited to be heading off on a 16-day campervan trip from Uluru to Darwin this winter because it has always been my dream destination!
We can’t wait to camel ride around the base of the rock, see sunsets and sunrises, see the field of lights and explore ancient Aboriginal cave art!!! We are going to walk around Kings Canyon, swim in some watering holes and take a boat cruise at Kakadu!
We may even go on a helicopter ride and charter a fishing boat off Darwin!! There is just so much to do in our amazing country and we are making sure that we get to see it all one BIG4 holiday at a time!
Happy holidaying everyone!!
