SA Vouchers: Guide to the ‘River Revival Vouchers’

Get ready to travel South Australia

Following the recent Murray River floods that hit South Australian communities hard, the SA State Government has announced a $4.6 million river tourism recovery plan that includes more than 25,000 travel vouchers to be released over three rounds in 2023.

The vouchers have been timed and staggered to allow tourism operators' preparation time for the increase in visitors and assist with sustaining bookings over a range of travel periods.

There will be one round of vouchers in each of autumn, winter and spring, and here is the rollout for round one:

  • Ballot open: Monday 27 March 2023 - Wednesday 29 March 2023
  • Ballot draw: Thursday, March 30
  • Booking period: Thursday, March 30 – Friday, April 28
  • Travel period: Friday, March 31 – Thursday, June 29

To be notified when the vouchers are available, sign up to the SA Gov newsletter here.

Types of River Revival Vouchers

The River Revival vouchers will include the following types:

  • $50 - Experiences
  • $100 - Accommodation
  • $200 - Accommodation (min 2 nights)
  • $750 - Houseboat & Guided Tours (available in round 2 and 3)

These vouchers will only be able available to residents of South Australia and Victoria who are 18 years and over. Once the ballot has been drawn, you will receive information on how to complete the booking process with an eligible business.

The River Revival Vouchers can be used only with participating businesses, and the cost of the experience/accommodation must be of equal or higher value. This means:

  • $50 voucher can be applied to experiences valued at $50 or more.
  • $100 vouchers can be applied to accommodation valued at $100 or more for a one-night stay, including Saturday.
  • $200 vouchers can be applied to accommodation valued at $200 or more for a two-night minimum stay, including Saturday.
$750 houseboat vouchers will be available from Round 2 and 3 due to most houseboat operators not being operational for Round 1.

Where can I use SA Travel Vouchers?

Customers who have successfully received one of the travel vouchers will be able to use them at registered experiences and accommodation in the Riverland and Murray River, Lakes and Coorong regions.

Tourism businesses are currently moving through the process of being part of the River Revival Vouchers program and full lists of the approved businesses will be available to consumers soon.

Please note: the expression of interest for tourism businesses to participate in round one has now closed, however, the EOI will return for the additional rounds.

How do I claim my SA Travel Voucher?

The booking process will happen on the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) website. Customers can browse and book the businesses that are part of the voucher program, then enter their voucher code as a discount, and where required, make a payment for any remaining balance. To stay in the loop with the claiming process, see SA River Revival Voucher.

As the voucher is claimed as a rebate by the business, customers will receive the discount when booking/paying for the experience or accommodation.
