H.M.A.S Sydney Memorial
HMAS Sydney was the pride of the Royal Australian Navy, a floating fortress that was 7198 tons of steel. At about 5pm on Wednesday 19th November 1941, while returning from a troopship escort to the Sunda Straits, she encountered a nondescript freighter off the cost near Shark Bay. Within hours, Australia's naval pride was gone and 67 years of systery began. Visit the memorial site to the 645 men who vanished with their ship.
