Murray to Mountain Rail Trail
The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail offers a unique way to take in and enjoy the magnificent, natural surrounds of Victoria's North East. The sealed, bitumen surface provides a safe, family friendly path on which you can take in the spectacular scenery. The Rail Trail is a gateway to Victoria's North East, one of the most vibrant and dynamic regions in Australia. The North East offers a wide variety of taste sensations with a fantastic assortment of local food and wine to sample and purchase.

Mount Buffalo National Park
The Great Granite Plateau - The park sits at the base of Mount Buffalo National Park. During summer relaxing activities such as walking, canoeing, swimming, picnicking and sight seeing. Rock climbing, abseiling and hang gliding challenge the adventurous. Over winter, snow blankets the plateau and attracts cross country skiers with fine snow play and tobogganing areas. As well as all this you have walking tracks galore, waterfalls and picnic areas for that relaxing day getting close with nature.

Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm Restaurant
Just a short distance from the park you and the children can enjoy all the Red Stag have to offer. This includes the most spectacular views through the valley to the mountains, feed the deer, emus, ostriches and goats or just sit down relax and have a fabulous morning tea or a sumptuous lunch.

Milawa Township
Milawa is just a 30 minute drive from the park. Here you can wander through Brown Brothers Winery where not only can you enjoy wine tasting but you can enjoy a beautiful lunch in the Brown Brothers restaurant. All local produce is used to create a magnificent menu. Then maybe you could stroll down to the Milawa Cheese Company and the Milawa Bakery and Restaurant, the Olive Shop and lots of other gourmet delights.

Beechworth Township
Just a 30 minute drive from the park. Step back in time in Beechworth. This heritage town is over flowing with history and nostalgia. Visit the courthouse where Ned Kelly was tried and convicted or maybe you would like to stop and have lunch in the famous Beechworth Bakery and after you have walked lunch off browsing through the quaint shops varying from Patchwork to Boutiques you can finish up on a sweet note at the Beechworth Sweet Company. Beechworth is a great day out for all the family.

Bright Berry Farm
Take a 15 minute bike ride or a leisurely 30 minute walk along the Rail Trail to the Bright Berry Farm. Stop and have a refreshing ice cream or sorbet and maybe purchase some jams or a bottle of fruit wine. There are plenty of specialty local products to choose from.

Eagle School of Microlighting
Want to take to the air then the Eagle School of Microlighting can certainly oblige. This is a family run business only ten minutes from the park. Get a whole different prospective of the area from the air, there is nothing else quite like it.

Wandiligong Maze and Cafe
Just a short trip in the car will take you to the township of Wandiligong. There you will find the largest natural hedge maze in Australia, they also have mini golf and a great little cafe. This is another great outing for the whole family.

Wineries - Boyntons Feathertop
Well what a selection you will have if you are interested in wines. Just a five minute walk one way to Boyntons Winery, one of the best wineries in the area. Not only are the wines great but the views and the nibbles are to die for.

Rail Trail Cafe
Just 6km from Bright on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, we are a licensed cafe serving all day breakfast, toasted sandwiches & scrumptious home-made cakes & scones. We use free range eggs & superb fair trade organic coffee. Other tasty options include local favourites such as the Big Beef'n'Bacon BBQ Cheeseburger, Breakfast Burrito or Chicken Quesadilla! Plus Bike Racks, high chairs & lots of smiles! Opening Times: 8am-4:30pm Thursday-Sunday and EVERYDAY on SCHOOL/PUBLIC HOLIDAYS excl. Christmas Day.

Wineries - Ringer Reef
Well what a selection you will have if you are interested in wines. Just a ten minute walk to Ringer Reef Winery, one of the best wineries in the area. Not only are the wines great but the views and the nibbles are to die for.

Join us in this special celebration of Italian culture. Passion mixed with art, culture and heritage makes for a mix of fun the Italian way! Locally sourced produce and the freshest ingredients, cooked by local Italian clubs and businesses provides food that is authentic and exceptional in taste.

Bright Autumn Festival
from 21 April, 2017 to 07 May, 2017
Dates vary slightly from year to year. Trees ablaze with red and gold, this Bright and district event is a festival of autumn harvest. This splash of colour before winters white cloak, is as inspiring by scenic flight or behind a photographers lens. The final Saturday of the Festival is Gala Day with all the fun of the fair in the centre of town. No traffic, just loads of stalls, bands, carnival entertainment, the Grand Parade and fun.

Bright Rod Run
from 04 November, 2016 to 06 November, 2016
What can you say about the Bright Rod Run? It just keeps getting bigger each year. Come and be amazed at the number (approx 1,000) and the quality of the rods that are present each year. It culminates in the spectacular Show and Shine and monster Rotary market on the Sunday.

Snow Season
from 10 June, 2016 to 02 October, 2016
Officially opens on the Queens Birthday Weekend each year (1st weekend in June). We are at the base of Mt Buffalo which is a great family mountain for those who just want to snow play and toboggan. Then we have the ski resort mountains of Falls Creek, Dinner Plain and Mt Hotham just a short distance away for some great skiing and snow boarding.

Audax Alpine Classic Bike Ride
from 26 January, 2017 to 29 January, 2017
Set yourself a goal. If you enjoy cycling then maybe this is for you. This event is held each year on the Australia Day Weekend in January. There are a few challenges you can either cycle one mountain or you can cycle three. Another weekend which is growing in popularity each year. Then of course when you are not riding you can be enjoying everything that this beautiful area has to offer.

High Country Harvest

High Country Harvest is a autumn celebration of the finest food, wine and beer in Victoria's spectacular North East. You're invited to sip, sample and savour the bounty grown and created by chefs, artisan producers, craft brewers and winemakers at 40 culinary events over 10 glorious days. Inhale the fresh alpine air and experience the splendour of autumn as streets, mountains and valleys come aline with colour. It truly is a magical time in Victoria's North East and High Country.
