Winter is a wonderful time to explore Bendigo. Over three days Bendigo becomes the epicentre of woollen fashion, fine food and beautiful fibre.
At the 'Festival of Lamb', you can catch cooking and carving classes and sample Australia’s best lamb.
More than 5000 farmers, the best fleeces in the country and 28 different breeds of sheep, goats and alpacas make their way to Bendigo each year for the Sheep Show. You can watch shearing and wool handling competitors battle it out for top prize and speak to sheepdog trainers, watch sheepdog trials and meet farmyard animals in our animal nursery.
The Sheep Show’s ‘Women of Wool’ series encourages all women to take the day off to discover the wonders of wool and celebrate the women of the wool industry. You can view fine woollen designs at our Australian Wool Innovation fashion parades, see ‘wearable art’ and other amazing entries from top Woolcraft competitors. You can enjoy high tea and buy beautiful hand-crafted woollen and other products from more than 250 stallholders.
The Bendigo Writers Festival takes place in the heart of Bendigo's View Street arts precinct.
Meet and talk about books and writing, and mostly, enjoy the conviviality of this festival set in picturesque View Street, Bendigo. Bendigo's Annual Craft Beer Festival is about local ingredients, flavour and aroma and this year features 22 local breweries!
