Waikerie Water & Nature Play Park
Located on the riverfront, right next door to our beloved Park, the all NEW Waikerie Water & Nature Play Park provides a combination of nature based play, water elements and standard play equipment. A 40 metre double flying fox, a 6 metre high tee pee, and 6 water play pieces, along with much more, will surely keep the kids busy and entertained.
Monash Adventure Playground
Lots of fun for the kids! Home to one of South Australians favourite family destinations, the renowned Monash Adventure Park is a free park that includes a maze, leaning towers and other fun activities, as well as free barbeques and shady trees. Opposite the park you will find a chocolate shop and a community club for bistro-style dining.
Situated in the heart of South Australia’s Riverland, Banrock Station is the ideal setting to enjoy fine wine, food and a unique natural experience. The Wine and Wetland Centre, overlooking the vineyards and wetlands, is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. Self-guided walking trails allow you to experience the magnificently restored wetlands and the abundant wildlife.
The Historic Overland Corner Hotel
The Overland Corner Hotel is situated 680 metres from the Murray River and 21 kilometres from Barmera off the Goyder Highway. The hotel boasts the biggest beer garden in the Riverland and includes a quaint dining room with two open log fires for those cold winter days. The Hotel is a fully licensed venue, with a pool table and heaps of memorabilia of yester year. With regular live events, several of the finest locally brewed beers and wines, and a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, the Historic Overland Corner Hotel is a ‘must visit’ location.
Holder Bend Lookout
Enjoy magnificent, breathtaking Murray River views, with parking and easy access from Sturt Highway, just east of Waikerie.
Get active and explore the river by kayak. Single, double, recreational and fishing kayaks available for hire through Woody’s Variety Store. To the east of Waikerie, you’ll find a guided Murray River canoe trail, catering to both beginner and experienced kayak and canoe enthusiast, exploring the region’s network of creeks and lagoons.
Hart Lagoon Walking Trail
Stroll the popular short return trail to the bird hide overlooking the lagoon (2km return) or for the more active there is a 7km trail looping around the lagoon. Trail starts from the western side of the park. It is a wetland of significance and interest within the Waikerie township and represents a site of important environmental value, due to the habitat it provides for native flora and fauna and is great for birdwatching.
Gliding & Joy Flights
Keep an eye on the sky for the Waikerie gliding club! You can learn to fly by joining as a member and flying with experienced instructors on nominated flying weekends. The club also offers the opportunity to be a part of their ‘Air Experience Flight’, a great way to ‘soak in’ all the wonderful emotions of sky gliding. Just sit back and enjoy the peace and the magnificent panoramic views.
Gluepot Reserve is Australia’s largest community owned and managed conservation reserve. Situated 64km from the River Murray in South Australia’s Riverland with 54,390 hectares of nature, the reserve is home to 17 nationally threatened species of birds, 50 species of reptiles and 12 species of bats, some of which are threatened. The Reserve is part of the largest block of intact mallee left in Australia and so the viability of threatened bird populations and other flora and fauna is high.
Rain Moth Gallery
The Rain Moth Gallery shop has a wide range of art and craft for sale from Riverland and South Australian artists. The exhibition rooms feature a minimum of eight new exhibitions per year ranging from paintings, to glass work, to creative crafts, to school students art, and displays of historical importance, supporting local and interstate artists.

Riverland Rock and Roll Festival

Riverland Paddling Marathon

Since 1988 the Riverland Paddling Marathon (RPM) has stamped its trademark as one of the most enduring festival marathons across the Riverland, where paddlers from all over the country gather on the Murray River in South Australia’s beautiful Murray River to meet, greet and most importantly to paddle. There are 6 possible events over 3 days on 1 weekend in the chilly month of June each year.

The Loxton Show is an annual event held on the October Long Weekend each year which brings people from across the Riverland & Mallee together to celebrate the agricultural and horticultural heritage of the region. Riverland Food and Wine Festival

Set in a unique environment on the bank of the mighty Murray River at Berri and shaded by huge riverside trees, the Riverland Wine & Food Festival, held in October each year, is an opportunity to get together with your friends and enjoy the ‘sweet indulgence’ that the Riverland has to offer – local wine, beer, cider, sangria, and delicious food accompanied by live entertainment and an incredible atmosphere, all in one place – the beautiful riverfront in Berri.
