There are over three kilometres of walking and cycling trails, wetland boardwalks, a unique cafe and gallery perched high above wildlife filled lagoons, to excellent bird watching opportunities. Take a step back in time at the historic Greenmount Homestead west of Mackay in Walkerston. Developed by Albert Cook on the cattle run first taken up by Mackay pioneer Captain John Mackay, Greenmount was gifted to the city by the Cook family in 1983 and is held in trust by Mackay Regional Council. The miniature sugar mill and distillery is open all year round, visitors of any age can enjoy a guided tour of the facility and see firsthand how sugar is grown, processed, milled and distilled.

Volunteer operated Sarina Festival is back on 10 September! Last year, over 3000 people attended the free event celebrating the heart and soul of Sarina with local arts, food, shows and entertainment. This is an ideal family event with something for all ages!
