Finke Street Party and Night markets

The ‘Finke Street Party & Night Markets’ is the OFFICIAL KICK OFF PARTY for Australia's ULTIMATE Desert Race... the Tatts Finke Desert Race. The Showtime FMX team will put on a show that will thrill onlookers – whether they are into motorsport or not – performing in front of the Council lawns with a section of Todd Street closed for the evening. Showtime FMX are promising tricks such as rock solids, turn downs, heart attacks, backflips, backflip variations and more. An array of multicultural food choices will be available on the night, along with a large variety of stallholders selling authentic indigenous art, craftworks, handmade clothing, jewellery and much more.

Finke Desert Race

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is an off road, multi terrain two-day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community. The race is held each year on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June. “Finke” as it is commonly known, is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the Northern Territory and has the reputation of being one of the most difficult off road courses in one of the most remote places in the world. Finke is unique and the most fun you can have with a helmet on!

Beanie Festival

The Alice Springs Beanie Festival is a community- based event that began in 1997 with a ‘beanie party’, organised by Adi Dunlop. We know our beanies! The festival was organised to sell beanies crocheted by Aboriginal women in remote communities. It has grown into a fun event where Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal artists share their culture and exhibit together.

Territory Day

Join the locals in Alice Springs to celebrate Territory Day. Free entertainment from 4pm on Anzac Oval with fireworks at 8pm. Food stalls, free activities for kids plus so much more. What a great way to celebrate the Territory.

Alice Springs Show

Join in the fun and excitement of a large rural show. The Alice Springs Show is a traditional rural show with a very close association with the regional cattle stations, and is based on agricultural produce, livestock and craft. The show encompasses business displays, competitions, photographic, cooking and other contests and outback sporting events. It also brings the rides, attractions and sideshow alley offered at the big capital city shows to delight all children and families. Treat yourself to a dagwood dog, a bag of fairy floss, a jam doughnut or some fresh strawberries and cream. The Alice Springs Show finishes with a giant fireworks display.

Lasseters Camel Cup

Be assured of top entertainment as riders race moody camels along dusty outback tracks at the annual carnival, with lots of action between races, too. The first Camel Race was run in 1970 in the dry Todd River Bed as a bet between two mates, Noel Fullerton and Keith Mooney-Smith, and was an added attraction at the Alice Springs Centenary Year Celebrations.

Rotary Henley on Todd

Red Centre Bird Festival

Red Centre Bird Festival is one of Australia's leading nature festivals will come alive in the heart of Australia from Wednesday 4 to Sunday 8 September 2019. The Red Centre has a suite of birdlife unlike anything else on offer around the country, including amazing iconic species such as Spinifex Pigeon, Dusky Grasswren, Rufous-crowned Emu-wren, Bourke’s Parrot and Mulga Parrot. These iconic species are rare and you would struggle to find them elsewhere, but in Central Australia they are a common sight and we want to share them with the world. Locals and visitors are invited to enjoy what the Red Centre has to offer with activities for experienced birdwatchers, nature lovers.

MusicNT Presents Bush Bands Bash

Bush Bands Program is a true collaborative partnership across more than a dozen organisations which all have a single goal in mind: the furthering of Australian Indigenous musicians and musicianship. In 2013 Bush Bands Bash concert came under the management of MusicNT. This created an exciting opportunity for MusicNT to consolidate the Bush Bands Bash with the Bush Bands Business a skills camp that MusicNT have run in conjunction with the concert since 2010. The result has been rebranded as the Bush Bands Program, and forms an integrated approach to the celebration, support and development of contemporary Indigenous musicians from remote Central Australian communities.
