Tathra has the last Historic Steam Wharf left on the east coast of Australia, so look out fish the fisherman are out to get you. Local wineries produce a lovely drop. Tathra Beach Village
Tathra village is centrally located within the Sapphire Coast. Surrounded by Bournda & Mimosa National Parks which team with wildlife & pristine beaches including Tathra Surf Beach, which is seasonally patrolled. Tathra offers golf, bowls, tennis, galleries, cafes, restaurants and the famous historic Tathra Wharf for excellent fishing. Surfing, snorkelling,whale watching, kayaking, coastal & bush walking, mountain biking are local activities along with visiting Bega Cheese & country markets.
Bournda & Mimosa Rocks National Parks
Tathra village is surrounded by both Bournda & Mimosa Rocks National Parks which nestle secluded, pristine beaches and are teaming with wildlife. Bournda National Park is 10 minutes south of Tathra and Mimosa Rocks National Park is five minutes north. Fantastic coastal & bush walking tracks.
Tathra Historical Steam Wharf
The Tathra Wharf Locavore operates from the only remaining coastal steamer wharf in NSW. The wharf, in use between 1862 and 1952, was restored by the National Trust, Department of Planning and local residents. It is also a favourite fishing spot for tourists and locals as it features deep water and spectacular scenery. Great for whale watching too. Diving in the area is also popular. A small museum on coastal shipping is housed in the warehouse.
Bega Cheese is in the country town of Bega. Only a short 15 minutes inland from Tathra. Visit the heritage centre, taste the cheese and learn the history of cheese making in the Bega Valley.
The Coast Road - Arts & Crafts Trail
Craft Trail from Tathra goes through Tanja up the coast road to Bermagui and on to Tilba Tilba. Visit numerous galleries, cafes and wineries. Travel back down the Princess Highway and visit Cobargo, Brogo, and Bega where you will discover more cafes, crafts, wineries and the famous Bega Cheese factory and historical centre. Remember Bega is famous for “Bega”. Surrounding areas like Bournda also house galleries and cafes.
Tathra has become famous for its world standard mountain bike tracks which have been established by keen enthusiasts. There are extensive tracks around Tathra suitable for beginners, intermediate or advanced riders. The Tathra Enduro is held every April and is enjoyed by hundreds.
Perhaps the best known of the of the seaside towns on the Sapphire Coast, Merimbula attracts thousands of holidaymakers each year. People are drawn to the magnificent lake and mountain scenery, which is set off by the white beaches that are nestled between the azure and turquoise blue lakes and unspoilt natural bushland.
Eden Whale Museum
Eden Killer Whale Museum was established in 1931 and is one of the oldest museums in NSW. It houses an extensive array of whaling and maritime artefacts, as well as documents and displays the whaling, maritime and local history of Eden and surrounding areas. The museum also houses the full skeleton of “Old Tom” the famous Killer Whale, or Orca, and the only full skeletal exhibit of a Killer Whale in the southern hemisphere. Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre
Promotes the understanding of ocean and coasts by offering learning and knowledge experiences. Awesome Holiday Activity Programs. Located at Snug Cove, Eden, NSW

Tathra Beach Country Club
A beautiful 9 hole golf course backing onto the pristine Bega River. Kangaroos roam free and are one of the obstacles to avoid. The Country Club also has four Tennis courts for either the serious or hit and giggle players. All within an easy one kilometre walk from BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park.
Mumbulla Creek Water Falls
Located in Biamanga National Park about 40 minutes north of Tathra. Mumbulla Creek is famous for its natural waterslide. You can take the family there and enjoy a bush picnic or BBQ, explore other nature based activities such as bushwalking or photography.
Tathra Beach Bowling Club
The Premier Bowling Club on the Far South Coast. Featuring 3 Beautiful Grass Greens and Surrounds with plenty to entertain within the Club too including full Bar, Tab and Keno facilities, WiFi, modern Gaming Room and Bistro J.J’s By The Green. Tathra Beach Wharf 2 Waves Ocean Swim
from 14 January, 2017 to 15 January, 2017
Held over a weekend in January. A community sponsored event. On Sunday the Entrants swim from the Historic Tathra Wharf across the bay finishing at the Tathra Surf Club. On Saturday the event also incorporates a Beach Fun Run and a Bega to Beach Bike Ride completion. BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park is a proud major sponsor of this event since its inception in 2001.
Tathra Enduro Mountain Bike Ride
from 11 June, 2016 to 12 June, 2016
The Tathra MTB Enduro will feature five events across the weekend; Saturday will have a Have-A-Go 10km and 20km rides, but still retain the Bundadung Tuff 20km. Sunday offers two 50km options - the exclusive Poo Ponds 50km and the Goats Knob Fire Road 50km, and the legendary King Nelba 100km. The event is held over the June Long weekend.
