Nelson Head Inner Lighthouse Cottage
Nelson Head Inner Lighthouse Cottage has panoramic views of the entrance to Port Stephens and has heritage displays of local history. It is National Trust Classified and has a small maritime museum. Blue Water Country Music Festival 2013

Port Stephens is one of Australia’s great holiday destinations just one hour north of Newcastle and two hours north of Sydney on the NSW North Coast and is the home of the Blue Water Country Music Festival. In 2006 the Blue Water Country was introduced into the Australian Country Music calendar on the June long weekend at Port Stephens and Nelson Bay. The Festival has grown and evolved to offer a unique experience to visitors with competitions like Gum Boot Throwing in the beach to Boot scooting in the streets. This festival is a unique concept in Country Music, with the efforts of the organisers to ‘Bring the Country to the Coast’. We are keen to support young upcoming artists and as such many rising star perform at our festival. This year new to the program are Thor Phillips and Dane Sharp and we are welcoming back seasoned talented performers like The Harmonators who are performing on d'Albora Marinas. Port Stephens Classic offers golfers a unique experience on the NSW Coast with the golf Tournament being played on three premier golf courses. This year the Port Stephens Golf Classic Tournament will be played on the stunning Nelson Bay Golf Course, Pacific Dunes Course in Medowie and on one of the best courses in Newcastle. The Port Stephens Golf Classic is now in its 16th year and always books out. It is a visitor only event with play over four days for 190 to 200 golfers. The Port Stephens Classic is held in August annually. Only visitors to the region are able to register to participate before July 2013 for in the Port Stephens Classic. Male and Female golfers can participate in the Port Stephens Classic over four days and can win prizes worth upwards of $5000. Entrants play on Nelson Bay Golf Course twice, Pacific Dunes and Newcastle at Fern Bay (home of the NSW Open) once during the event.

The Club Marine Trailer Boat Fishing Tournament has since grown to be amongst the most popular family fishing tournaments in Australia while staying true to its original ideal of making anglers of all ages and skill levels welcome. The rules are very simple to understand and there are a lot of Juniors each year and people travel from all over Australia for the weekend. The Club Marine Trailer Boat Fishing Tournament is a very easy tournament to enter and enjoy. It is however, an extremely hard tournament to win. The Senior and Junior Anglers who take home the Champion Angler mantles each year are truly "gun" anglers who have worked very hard to be on the podium for a number of species. These days, you can expect to join around 1000 competitors and 450 boats to compete for around $80,000 in species and lucky draw prizes.

With yachties located from Nelson Bay to Soldiers Point, Sail Port Stephens has expanded the programme to ensure no matter where you are berthed, or where you stay, there is always something happening. Regatta headquarters will again be based at d’Albora Marina Nelson Bay with daily updates from the regatta tent in centre court. The onshore events include, regatta markets, kids disco, kids movies under the stars and lots lots more! There is a range of day and night social events across the regatta located at different venues to give you a chance to see a bit more of this little piece of paradise. There’s even a free Yacht on Wheels (aka; a bus) to get you to and from the venues.
