Our vineyard is just north of Tingha (near Armidale) on the spine of the Great Dividing Range in northern NSW. We are on the western edge of the New England Tablelands at an altitude of 900m above sea level. The vines have their roots deeply immersed in the beautiful, deep, red volcanic soils high above the valleys of the MacIntyre & Gwydir Rivers.

We hold regular races and social rides and frequently travel away as a club to nearby and far off events. Born in the early to mid 1830s, Frederick Wordsworth Ward, otherwise known as Captain Thunderbolt, was a hardworking bushranger. His extensive crime record states he robbed: 25 mail coaches;16 stations and residences; six hawkers; one toll-bar gate and stole 80 horses. In 1856, he was sentenced to 10 years hard labour and taken to Cockatoo Island Prison, Sydney Harbour, but escaped with fellow prisoner Fred Britton.

Walcha Golden Gate Rodeo

The success of the Walcha Rodeo has meant that it has continued to run over 49 years. It has a magnificent display of cowboy skills, bull riding, rodeo, buck jumping and camp drafting. There is a barbecue and a bar that is open all day, snacks are available and side show events also to entertain.
Minerama Fossicking, Gem Show and Jewellery Show

Minerama is run by a voluntary community committee with the aim of fostering all facets of the lapidary hobby. Well over 50 traders come to Minerama each year, with the larger commercial traders taking up space in the auditorium of the Glen Innes and District Services Club and the smaller hobby traders setting up outside, flowing into King George Oval.
