Fishing in Lakes Entrance
FISHING REPORT Thursday 23 July
Lakes Entrance Eastern Beach for salmon using blue and red poppers. King George whiting biting opposite Black Swan Apartments with best results using pippies. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for pinkies, morwong and nanagi on pilchards.
Lake Tyers Tailor are about chasing prawn and hard-body lures, while bream and perch are biting from past Cameron’s Arm up to Devil’s Hole and heading to Nowa Nowa using prawn and soft plastics.
Mitchell River Perch biting at highway bridge, with bream in the backwater, and at Grassy Banks and The Cut. Cut crab vibes and soft plastics are yielding the best results.
Tambo River Best spots for bream are Punt House Point Jetty and the Powerlines using shrimp.
Nicholson Little Cliffs, The Swimming Hole, Car Bodies and the Cliffs are all good for bream 1.4–1.6kg with cut crab and prawn.
Metung The Boardwalk, Chinaman’s Creek and Box’s Creek for bream, biting on prawn, shrimp and soft plastics.
Paynesville Mullet and bream are active around the Strait and Town Jetties, with best results from worm and prawn.
Holland’s Landing Tom’s Creek, Blonde Bay and towards Storm Point are the best spots for bream, with the best baits being worm, prawn and soft shell.
Marlo The river system is slowly receding, and fishing will improve as a result. Tailor and salmon are about the surf beaches, and offshore is also producing a good mixed bag.
Bemm River The entrance is closed, and the lake and channel are best for bream on worm and soft plastics

Tamboon Inlet Bream are biting at Peach Tree Creek on prawn and soft plastics. Pelican Point and the football ground are also worth trying.
Mallacoota The entrance is now open, and the surf beaches are good for salmon and tailor on pilchards and poppers.
