Step back in time; to a time before TV, air-conditioners and computers; to a time when bread was baked at home in a wood-fuelled oven, milk came directly from cows to the table, and horses pulled ploughs to cultivate the land. The Loxton Historical Village rekindled memories of days gone by and of the hard-working pioneers who struggled to tame this inhospitable land.
The stories of the early settlers and their families are displayed in over 45 buildings and exhibits in the village. Stroll down memory lane and experience their lifestyles. Visit the bakery, the bank, the blacksmith, the printer, the motor garage, and even the dentist - if you dare!
Village Alive Days: Visit the Village on one of its 'Alive' days - taste the mouth-watering pastries at the bakery, smell the smoke, and listen to the hiss of stream and the rhythmic sound of the blacksmith as he shapes and moulds hot steel. Wander the main street where locals will welcome you and help you to discover what life was like at the turn of the 19th Century.
