Low Head Tourist Park is an ideal base for those wishing to explore the Tamar Valley and Northern Tasmania.

Centrally located to many great attractions in a tranquil, peaceful setting overlooking the Tamar River only 40 minutes’ drive from Launceston, Tasmania's second largest city.

We are also a 60 minutes’ drive from Launceston Airport and 90 minutes’ drive from the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry Terminal at Devonport.

Our park has sites and accommodation to suit all budgets, from budget style Economy Cabins to well-appointed Water View Cottages. All our accommodation is fully self-contained and includes all bedding, towels and linen plus split system heating and air conditioning.

We have sites for large and small RV's, caravans, motorhomes and camper trailers with access to modern and clean amenities including facilities for those who are mobility impaired.

Park facilities include free gas operated BBQs and laundry facilities with coin operated washers and dryers, plus a well-appointed camp kitchen.

The Low Head area has a rich maritime history and along with nearby George Town was one of the first settlements in Northern Tasmania.

The nearby Pilot Station precinct was built by convicts in 1805 and is Australia's oldest group of pilot buildings and still continues to operate as a pilot service today safely navigating ships down the Tamar River. The Museum at the precinct is open 7 days.

The Low Head Light House was built in 1833 and is the third oldest Light House in Australia. Every Sunday at noon the Low Head Fog Horn is sounded and is the only operational Type G Diaphone in the world.

In the evening experience the Low Head Penguin Tour and get up close with the local Fairy Penguins as they come to shore.

Hollybanks Tree Tops Adventures, Bridestowe Lavender Estate and Tasmania Zoo all less than an hour away.

Spend the day visiting Launceston and the famous Cataract Gorge, Penny Royal World, Boags Brewery, or go on a cruise with Tamar River Cruises.
